Fan attacks GK Kirkland on the field

A fan attacks Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland in the 76th minute of their game against Leeds United at Hillsborough.

The Guardian reports it as such:

"Moments after Michael Tonge's 76th-minute shot put Leeds back on level terms at 1-1, a fan ran on to the pitch from the away end and pushed both hands into Kirkland's face. "

Shamefully and utterly disgraceful.

Here's the video:

Here are the post match comments both from Leeds manager Neil Warnock and Sheffield Wednesday's Dave Jones. Jones also reacts to chants by the away crowd "relating to child abuse charges of which he was emphatically cleared 12 years ago"

Warnock: "Nobody should be on the pitch doing that"

On a rather serious note, our own United Football League (UFL) should take note. Security is relatively very lax at the moment as the league is trying to attract fans to the game. Here's hoping no such incident takes place in the UFL.
